Trisha, large tumour on the head, pressing on her eye and ear

Critical · tumour surgery needed this week

Trisha has days left unless this tumour comes out.

A tumour the size of a fist is growing out of her head, over her eye and ear. It is operable today. Soon it will not be. The surgery costs ₹1,20,000.

Trisha's story

What happened to Trisha

Trisha was lying on the roadside, not moving, when our team found her. A German Shepherd mix with soft eyes and a tumour growing out of the side of her head so large it had closed one eye and swallowed one ear.

She could not eat properly. She could not see on that side. She had been dying quietly where people stepped around her.

The vet examined her and said the words we needed to hear: it is operable. Then the words we were afraid of: only if we do it now. Every day the tumour grows it presses deeper. Soon it will reach a point where no surgeon will touch it.

Trisha still wags her tail when someone speaks softly to her. She still rests her chin on a hand. She has done nothing to deserve this, and ₹1,20,000 is all that stands between her and a life without this thing on her head.

“If she gets the surgery this week, she lives. If she doesn't, she won't.”

Why this week, not next month

  • The tumour is still encapsulated. Once it spreads into the skull, surgery stops being an option.
  • It is pressing on her eye and ear now. The longer it stays, the more it takes with it when it comes out.
  • She is losing weight because she cannot eat normally. A weaker dog is a riskier surgery.
