Helping Furrs

Policy

Donation, refund & chargeback policy

Donations are gifts, and gifts are final. Here is exactly what that means, the narrow exceptions, and how to reach us if something went wrong.

Effective 15 October 2026 · Version 1.0

This policy applies to every donation made to Helping Furrs through any channel: this website, a payment gateway such as Razorpay, a payment link, UPI ID or QR code, bank transfer (NEFT, RTGS, IMPS), cheque, or a link shared on WhatsApp, social media or in a fundraising campaign. Donations are received by the registered charitable organisation named in the footer of this website. By donating, you confirm that you have read and accept this policy.

1. A donation is a gift, not a purchase

You receive no goods, services, subscription or guaranteed result in exchange for a donation. A receipt simply acknowledges that we received your gift; it is not an invoice and does not create a right to a refund or chargeback.

2. Donations are final

Once a donation is successfully received, it is treated as final, voluntary and non-refundable, except in the specific situations described in section 3. This is subject to applicable law and to any lawful direction from a competent authority.

We will not refund a donation because of, for example:

  • a change of mind, or a claim that the donation was accidental or the amount was mistyped;
  • disagreement with how we run our work, communicate, or allocate funds;
  • a UPI or bank transfer you initiated yourself to one of our published payment details;
  • a donation made after seeing a social media post, advertisement, QR code or message;
  • a complaint filed with a bank, gateway or cyber cell without first contacting us with transaction details.

Donations are spent quickly on time-critical needs such as treatment, food, medicines and transport. They cannot be ring-fenced or reversed on request.

3. The exceptions: duplicate charge or system error

We will consider a refund if you intended to make one donation but were charged more than once because of a gateway or system fault, and the duplicate is verified in gateway or bank records. To ask for this, email help@helpingfurrs.org within 7 calendar days of the transaction with:

  1. your name and the phone number or email used to donate;
  2. the amount and date of each transaction;
  3. the UTR, payment ID or order reference;
  4. a screenshot of the bank or payment statement;
  5. a short description of what went wrong.

If the duplicate or error is confirmed, we will refund the extra amount within a reasonable period, subject to gateway and bank timelines. This exception does not cover separate donations you made deliberately or multiple transfers you initiated yourself.

4. UPI, QR code and direct bank transfers

Our UPI IDs, QR codes, payment links and bank details are published so that people can donate. UPI and bank transfers are initiated and authorised entirely by the sender through their own banking app; we cannot intercept, warn or ask for confirmation before the money arrives. Any amount sent to our official payment details is therefore treated as a voluntary donation governed by this policy and is not refundable merely because the sender later changes their explanation.

5. Third-party misuse and false complaints

Charities sometimes find their public payment details misused by unrelated people who persuade others to donate and then to file complaints. We are not responsible for representations made by anyone who is not part of our team. If you were misled by a third party, send us their details (name, number, screenshots, call recordings, complaint acknowledgement) and we will cooperate fully with any lawful bank, gateway or police investigation. However, a complaint by itself is not grounds for a refund, and we reserve the right to contest false, malicious or bad-faith complaints with transaction logs and consent evidence, to report misuse of complaint mechanisms, and to recover costs, losses and legal expenses they cause.

6. Claims of unauthorised payment

If you believe your card, UPI or bank account was used without your permission, report it to your bank and the cybercrime authorities at once. We will provide transaction records, payment page details and communication history to any lawful investigation. We cannot ourselves establish whether an OTP or PIN was shared or whether fraud occurred outside our systems, so any reversal must follow proper verification by the bank, gateway, police, court or other competent authority. Until then the transaction remains a donation received through an official channel.

7. Chargebacks and payment disputes

If a chargeback or dispute is raised after a voluntary donation, we will contest it by submitting this policy, the donation page records, gateway logs, the details you entered, receipt records and evidence that the payment was initiated by you. We may also seek recovery of any fees, penalties, account-freeze losses or other costs caused by a false or bad-faith dispute.

8. Monthly and recurring gifts

Recurring donations are set up voluntarily and authorise periodic deductions from your chosen payment method. To stop future deductions, email help@helpingfurrs.org with your name, phone number and subscription or payment reference. We acknowledge cancellation requests within 48 hours and apply them before the next billing cycle. Amounts already received remain non-refundable except under section 3.

9. Payment gateways

Online donations are processed by third-party gateways (currently Razorpay), and their terms apply alongside this policy. Every online donation is completed only after you confirm the amount on the gateway's checkout screen, which records your informed consent. We are not liable for failures, delays or double debits caused by a gateway or bank; report those to the gateway and to us so we can help follow up.

10. What you confirm when you donate

  • you are donating voluntarily and are authorised to use the payment method;
  • you checked the amount before approving it;
  • you understand the donation is a gift, not a purchase, and is non-refundable except under section 3;
  • you understand funds may be used for rescue, treatment, feeding, sterilisation, shelter, staff, compliance and administration;
  • you accept our privacy policy;
  • you will not file a false or misleading bank, cyber or payment complaint after donating.

11. Use of donations

Donations may fund emergency rescue, veterinary care and surgery, medicines and vaccines, feeding drives, shelter and foster costs, transport, sterilisation programmes, team salaries, and the fundraising, payment, accounting, audit and technology expenses of running the initiative. Unless a restriction is agreed in writing, we allocate funds to the area of greatest need.

12. Receipts and tax benefit

A receipt is issued to your registered email after a successful donation. Donations may be eligible for deduction under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961, subject to the conditions prescribed by the Income Tax Department and the registration status of the registered entity at the time of donation. Please give us accurate name, PAN, address, email and phone details if you want them on your receipt; errors may delay or prevent issuance. A receipt never creates a right to a refund.

13. Grievance officer

Grievance officer: Chandransh Khinchi
Email: help@helpingfurrs.org
Postal address and phone: see the registered entity details in the footer of this website.

We acknowledge grievances within 48 hours and aim to resolve them within 30 days. Reviewing a complaint in good faith does not guarantee a refund.

14. Governing law

This policy is governed by the laws of India. Subject to applicable law, disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts at Ajmer, Rajasthan, India. We reserve all remedies available in law against false complaints, malicious chargebacks, misuse of cybercrime or banking complaint mechanisms, wrongful account-freeze requests, defamation or harassment.

15. Updates

We may update this policy at any time; the latest version is always published on this page. Donating after an update means you accept the updated terms.

16. In short

When you donate to Helping Furrs through any official channel, you are making a voluntary, final gift that cannot be refunded except in the verified duplicate or system-error cases described above. This policy exists to protect the animals we serve, our genuine donors and our ability to keep working.
