Helping Furrs

About Helping Furrs

Started by people who couldn't keep walking past.

Helping Furrs grew out of a handful of volunteers feeding strays near the Nasirabad market. Today it is a small, stubborn rescue community in the Ajmer region that treats street dogs and cats as neighbours, not nuisances.

Our story

The first animal we ever helped was a brown street dog with a wound that had been ignored for weeks. One vet visit, two weeks of dressings and a bowl of food every evening later, she was running again. That is still the whole idea: small, consistent acts of care change an animal's life.

We are not a large shelter with a big campus. We are feeders with buckets, drivers with a spare seat, a few vets who pick up the phone at odd hours, and donors who make all of it possible. Most of the animals we help stay in the neighbourhoods they know, healthier and safer than before. The ones who can't go back are fostered until they find a home.

Helping Furrs operates under a registered charitable organisation in India, which means your donation is received and accounted for by a body that files audited accounts and can issue tax-exemption receipts. You can find the registered entity's details in the footer of every page.

Mission

To make sure no street animal in our area suffers from hunger, injury or illness simply because nobody was willing to help, and to build a community that treats animal care as a shared, everyday responsibility.

Vision

Streets where dogs and cats are healthy, vaccinated and welcome; where a hurt animal is reported within minutes; and where adoption from the street is the first choice, not the last.

What we stand for

Four promises

Show up, every time

A rescue call never gets a 'maybe tomorrow'. If we can reach it, we go.

Nothing to hide

Ask us where the money went and we'll tell you, down to the vet bill.

Fix the cause

Sterilisation and vaccination drives matter as much as the dramatic rescues.

Neighbours first

The people who live on a street are its best animal protectors. We train and equip them.
